DDP Player
DDP Player is a Steinberg desktop app for macOS and Windows that imports and plays back DDP images created with WaveLab.
What is DDP Player?
DDP Player is a desktop audio utility for opening and playing DDP images created with WaveLab. It is intended for mastering, review, and approval workflows where users need to check a disc image before manufacturing or delivery. On macOS, it gives users a straightforward way to load a DDP project and listen through the program material without requiring a separate WaveLab license for playback. This makes it useful for engineers, clients, and production partners who need to audition sequence order and track transitions from a delivered DDP image. The app is distributed by Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH and is available for both macOS and Windows.

Safety overview
Status: Safe
This is a legitimate Steinberg audio utility used for DDP playback in mastering workflows. It normally needs access only to the audio files or DDP image you choose to open, and any standard media or file access prompts are consistent with that purpose. Removing it will not affect macOS itself, but you may lose the ability to review DDP images with this player until you reinstall it.
Recommendation: Keep DDP Player if you work with WaveLab disc images or need to review DDP deliveries. If you do not use DDP-based mastering or approval workflows, you can remove it without affecting unrelated apps or core system functions.
