CheatSheet
CheatSheet is a Mac utility that shows an app’s available keyboard shortcuts when you hold the Command key.
What is CheatSheet?
CheatSheet is a lightweight Mac utility for learning and recalling keyboard shortcuts in the apps you use every day. When you hold the Command key, it displays a quick-reference overlay listing the shortcuts supported by the current application, which helps users work faster without memorizing commands in advance. It is especially useful for people who are learning macOS apps, switching to a new program, or trying to build more efficient keyboard-driven workflows. The app focuses on in-context shortcut discovery instead of manuals or training screens, so you can check commands while you work. CheatSheet was published by Stefan Fuerst and is designed as a focused helper tool rather than a full productivity suite. It has been discontinued and is not intended for current macOS releases such as macOS 14 Sonoma and newer.

Safety overview
Status: Mostly safe
CheatSheet is a legitimate shortcut helper for Mac. To show shortcuts on top of other apps, it may need normal macOS accessibility-related access for its purpose. The main practical concern is compatibility: the product has been discontinued and is not meant for macOS 14 Sonoma or newer, so it may not work correctly on current systems. If you still use it on an older Mac, keep it updated only from trusted sources and remove it if it no longer functions as expected.
Recommendation: Keep CheatSheet if you actively rely on its shortcut overlay on a compatible older macOS version. If you do not use it, or if you are on a newer macOS release where it is unsupported, removing it is a reasonable cleanup step and should only affect this shortcut-reference feature.
