What is AutoMounter?

AutoMounter is a macOS utility for automatically mounting network shares from servers such as NAS devices and other file servers. It helps users keep commonly used shared folders available in Finder without manually reconnecting every time they join a network or wake their Mac. The app supports common share types including SMB/CIFS, WebDAV/WebDAVS, AFP, and NFS, and it can monitor network changes to reconnect shares when conditions match your rules. Users can configure servers, add individual shares, and choose automatic or manual mounting behavior to fit home, school, or office workflows. It is especially useful for people who regularly access shared storage across changing Wi‑Fi or Ethernet connections. AutoMounter is published by Pixeleyes Ltd for Mac.

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

AutoMounter performs normal network-share tasks for its purpose, including checking local network availability and connecting to file servers you configure. It may run in the background so shares can mount automatically, and some setups may prompt for normal macOS permissions related to local network access or mounting behavior. Because it works with mounted shares, the app can expose remote files that you already have permission to access through your network account. Keep it if you rely on automatic access to shared folders, and review your configured servers and shares if you no longer want it connecting in the background.

Recommendation: Keep AutoMounter if you regularly use NAS folders or other network shares and want them to connect automatically. If you no longer use shared storage, you can remove it and your Mac will simply stop auto-mounting those locations until you reconnect them manually through Finder or another tool.
