Status: Mostly safe
AP News is a legitimate news app. It may send notifications for breaking stories and can use network access to load articles, photos, and video, which is normal for a news-reading app. If you sign in, follow topics, or save content, the app may store preferences associated with your reading experience. Keep notification settings and any optional personalization choices aligned with how much activity tracking and alerting you want.
Recommendation: Keep AP News if you use it to follow current events or want timely alerts from The Associated Press. If you no longer read news in the app, removing it is reasonable and mainly affects saved preferences, followed topics, and app-specific downloads or data.
