What is alto.computer?

alto.computer is a Mac utility focused on extending Apple Notes workflows. It helps users publish Apple Notes online, export notes to HTML, and work with note links and backlinks from a desktop app. The app is aimed at people who use Apple Notes for writing, personal knowledge management, lightweight publishing, or sharing note content on the web. It runs on macOS and is designed as a companion tool for Apple Notes rather than a general-purpose notes app. Users may encounter it when turning notes into web pages, creating shareable outputs, or organizing connected notes more effectively. Alto publishes several small Mac tools, and alto.computer is the one centered on Apple Notes publishing and related note utilities.

Key features

• Publish Apple Notes online
• Export Apple Notes to HTML files
• Copy or work with note links
• Show backlinks between notes
• Create websites or blog-style pages from notes

Safety overview

Status: Mostly safe

This app is a legitimate Mac utility built to work with Apple Notes. Its access to note content is consistent with its purpose, since publishing, exporting, and linking notes requires reading information from Apple Notes. Use normal care before publishing anything online so you do not expose private or sensitive notes by mistake. If you no longer use it, removing the app may also remove its convenience features for Notes-based publishing and export workflows.

Recommendation: Keep alto.computer if you actively use Apple Notes for publishing, exporting, or backlink-style organization. If you do not use those workflows, it is optional and can be removed without affecting macOS itself, though its note-related tools will no longer be available.
