A PDF operation can fail when the document is still being edited, a page cannot be rendered, storage is low, or the receiving app rejects the file.

Checks to make

  1. Return to the document library and reopen the document.
  2. Check each page for an Unable to display page message.
  3. Remove or recapture only the affected page if necessary.
  4. Confirm that the device has free storage.
  5. Try Save to Files to separate PDF generation from email or messaging delivery.
  6. Open the saved PDF before attempting to send it again.

What the result tells you

  • If Save to Files succeeds, troubleshoot the receiving app or account separately.
  • If one document fails but others export, the issue is likely specific to a page in that document.

Before trying again

  • Do not delete the source document until a verified exported copy exists.
  • Split an unusually large document into smaller PDFs if the destination imposes size limits.
