Reinstalling can replace a damaged application bundle, but it does not automatically correct folder permissions, reset every preference, or restore removed data.
Before uninstalling
- Finish or cancel active scans.
- Quit diCleaner.
- Quit the menu-bar component if it is running.
- Note the edition, version, scan thresholds, ignore rules, and other preferences you may want to reproduce.
- Preserve any vault or user-created data according to its feature instructions.
Remove the app
Move diCleaner from Applications to Trash, or use the supported uninstallation method available to you. Emptying Trash is not required before installing a replacement.
Removing the application bundle does not cancel purchases or subscriptions and does not restore files removed during previous cleanups.
Remove obsolete permissions
macOS may keep an old Full Disk Access entry. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access and remove or disable the obsolete entry if it is no longer needed.
The App Store edition’s saved Home-folder authorization belongs to its application data. Removing the app bundle alone may not be equivalent to resetting every saved setting.
Reinstall
Install the chosen edition from the Mac App Store or official Doinno website. Keep one active copy in Applications.
After opening:
- Confirm the version in About.
- Review Settings → Privacy.
- Grant only the permissions required by the tool you intend to use.
- Run a new scan.
When reinstalling does not help
A problem caused by a protected disk, external-volume failure, macOS privacy state, unsupported file, network filter, or application-owned data can persist after reinstalling.
Record the exact error and follow the relevant troubleshooting article before repeatedly replacing the app.
