Items in Trash are pending deletion, but they may still be recoverable until Trash is emptied. Review them as carefully as files in their original location.
Availability
The Trash tool may not be available in every diCleaner edition. When it is available, macOS permissions determine which supported Trash locations it can inspect.
Why Full Disk Access may be required
macOS protects some Trash locations. Without Full Disk Access, a Trash scan may show only part of the contents or appear empty.
Enable Full Disk Access only if you want diCleaner to inspect those supported protected locations, then quit and reopen the app before rescanning.
Review Trash
- Open Cleanup.
- Choose Trash Bin.
- Grant required access.
- Start a new scan.
- Review names, original locations when available, dates, and sizes.
- Restore anything deleted by mistake before emptying Trash.
- Select the items you intend to remove permanently.
- Confirm the action.
External disks
External volumes can maintain their own Trash data. Keep the disk connected and avoid ejecting it while scanning or removing items. Results can change when the disk is mounted under another user or when macOS has already emptied its Trash.
Understand recovery
Emptying Trash removes the normal Finder recovery path. Backups or specialized recovery may not be available, particularly after secure storage reuse. Treat the operation as permanent.
If an item cannot be removed
The item may be in use, locked, owned by another user, located on a read-only disk, or protected by macOS. Close related applications and rescan. Do not repeatedly force removal of an item you do not recognize.
