diCleaner is available in editions that follow different macOS distribution and security requirements. The main workflow is similar, but folder authorization and the availability of a small number of system-level tools can differ.

Choose an edition

App Store edition

Choose the App Store edition if you prefer installation and updates through Apple. It runs inside the App Sandbox and may ask you to select your Home folder before tools can scan broadly inside your user account.

Because of App Store restrictions, a feature that requires access or behavior unavailable to sandboxed apps may not appear in this edition.

Direct-download edition

Choose the direct edition if you need the feature set distributed directly by Doinno. It does not use the App Store edition’s saved Home-folder authorization flow, although normal macOS privacy protections still apply.

The direct edition may update through its own supported update mechanism. Only install a copy obtained from the official Doinno website.

Install from the App Store

  1. Open the Mac App Store listing for diCleaner.
  2. Select Get or the download button.
  3. Wait for installation to finish.
  4. Open diCleaner from Applications or Launchpad.
  5. Review the first-use information before starting a scan.

App Store updates are managed from the App Store. If automatic updates are disabled, open the App Store’s Updates page periodically.

Install the direct edition

  1. Download diCleaner from the official Doinno website.
  2. Open the downloaded disk image or package.
  3. Move diCleaner to the Applications folder when instructed.
  4. Eject the installer image after copying the app.
  5. Open diCleaner from Applications.
  6. Confirm the normal macOS security prompt if it identifies the expected developer.

Do not run diCleaner permanently from Downloads or from a mounted installer image. Keeping it in Applications helps macOS associate permissions and updates with a stable copy.

If macOS blocks the first launch

First confirm that the download came from the official source. Then open System Settings → Privacy & Security and review the message shown by macOS. Do not bypass a warning if the developer identity or source is unexpected.

Avoid duplicate copies

Running multiple copies can create confusing permission and update behavior. Full Disk Access may be enabled for one copy while you are opening another.

Keep the edition you intend to use in Applications. Before removing an older copy, make sure no scan or cleanup is running and preserve any data you intentionally created with the app.

Moving between editions

Before switching:

  1. Finish active operations.
  2. Note any scanning thresholds, ignore rules, or interface preferences you want to reproduce.
  3. Install the new edition in Applications.
  4. Open it and grant only the permissions needed for your workflow.
  5. Run a new scan instead of relying on results from the previous edition.

Installing a different edition does not automatically grant it permissions previously assigned to another copy.

Uninstall diCleaner

Quit diCleaner and any companion menu component first. Remove the app using the normal macOS process or a trusted uninstaller. Revoking Full Disk Access afterward removes an obsolete permission entry when macOS retains one.

Uninstalling the application does not automatically restore files removed in earlier cleanups.
